This past summer I had the opportunity to shoot again for the Compassionate Eye Foundation where a “Farm to Table” theme was chosen. My role this time around was to capture studio portraits of the talent we had working with us that day. Our models were incredibly talented and versatile as you can see and the location was amazing. I was already a fan of his food when I was invited to work with Romer’s Burger Bar in the reboot of their website. The theme for the photography was the idea of fresh delicious food straight from the chef’s hands to your table. Jim Romer himself prepared the dishes on the spot (that’s him holding the Man’s Man Burger Made Green) making this a great shoot for a burger fan like me.

I was recently asked to photograph world class charcuterie products from Oyama Sausage Co. by Creative Engine Communication here in Vancouver. We shot images at their store in Granville Island and as product shots. The branding work done by Gonzalo at Creative Engine is a perfect match for the philosophy behind all Oyama products. “Great food makes the world around us disappear”.

Can’t express how amazing our “quality control taste tests” were.

Atkinsons of Vancouver is a family owned business which offers some of the finest items from around the world. For our shoot we decided to go for an elegant black background so that each piece would be the centre of attention. The high gloss reflections added to the look. Some of the items in their catalog offered interesting challenges since they were made of beautiful reflective surfaces like fine crystal, gold and silver.

Bare Advertising and Red Cab Communications here in Vancouver were in the process of creating the new website for Seymour Investment Management and they invited me to participate by creating portraits of the team and their office space.

For most of the shots we opted to go with a journalistic style of photography. The client was very happy with the images and we had a great time shooting.

​Covering a conference is always cool. You get to meet people from all walks of life and shoot in unexpected situations where lighting can change from an interior lecture hall to an exterior garden. This time it was the ICBIC conference at UBC where biochemists from all over the world gathered to share their latest findings.

​Below the Belt is an apparel and accessories company with stores across Canada and shooting for them was a treat. The time I spent in studio with Leanne from Leanne Davis Design and Cathy from BTB was one of the best I’ve ever had. Fun stuff to shoot as well.

​A brand new health care facility in Surrey was about to be opened to the public and I was asked to photograph the building and it’s key areas of care. It’s always a great experience when you can learn about the way a place like this works and having my client there to show me and explain all the new gadgets was really cool.

​The goal for this project was to show the various accommodations offered by the UBC Conferences and Accommodation. A simple, bright lighting setup was decided as the best approach. You can stay at the university surrounded by forests and ocean for a fantastic rate. Probably one of Vancouver’s best kept secrets.

I love a challenge and sometimes you find them in the least expected places. When I was asked to create clean and simple photographs of a selection of products from Moulding & Millwork I didn’t think I’d stretch my creative muscles on the project. Boy was I wrong. The best exercises in creativity definitely come from the simplest of concepts. Lighting these objects was a great zen type of project.

​To say I enjoy going to La Taqueria here in Vancouver would be an understatement. I try to visit as often as I can and recently I had the chance to shoot for them at both locations here in town. Their quirky and friendly atmosphere is hopefully reflected in these images. If you are ever in town and want to try authentic tacos look no further.

When you get a call from a company which works with particle accelerators and sub atomic physics and they are interested in shooting a new piece of machinery they’ve developed, only a crazy photographer would think for a whole second before jumping all over the opportunity.

Me being a sci-fi fanatic knew in a nano second that I had to make this shoot happen. TRIUMF Canada works with amazing instruments and I had the pleasure of shooting one that makes materials radioactive for medical use. Just writing that puts a smile on my face. We were under a crazy deadline but Tim and Ken were great collaborators and we got some nice photographs for a special event.
